May Bumps Day 1 What a historical day for Lucy Cavendish today having all 3 boats bump! The carb loading and big legs are really showing their fruits. M1 bumped Homerton M2 securing the first ever Lucy Men's (non-technical) bumps. W1 bumped Medwards W1 just before the reach to roar of all of our fans. W2 bumped Clare Hall W1 quickly and fearlessly, what an achievement for this amazing crew. Our captains were all smiles today, making us as happy as can be! Look at the pictures for proof of W1's need for more bicep curls!! May Bumps Day 2 Another day another 3 bumps!!! With all of our fantastic crews making history yet again! M1 bumped Darwin M2, making this the second every Lucy men's bump, on to many many more! W1 gave it everything they had along the reach and bumped Jesus W2. Their attempts at taking intimidating photos may be poor but their legs are strong! W2 had a super strong start and bumped Darwin W2 before the motorway bridge making it their fastest ever 342 sprint!! May Bumps Day 3 LCCBC strikes again with an astounding 3/3 bumps!! We couldn't be prouder!!!!! W2 bumped Jesus W3 by keeping to their fly and die tactic. They have yet to row more than 1k (992 m) and are super fresh for tomorrow! W1 fueled by jelly snakes and the captains' (conservative) whistles bumped Emma W2 on the reach. Special mention to cox Chris' tight corners. Thank you for a good race Emma! M1 bumped Downing M3 with their now-habitual speed, proving themselves to be the stronger crew out of a close three-boat sandwich!!! May Bumps 2022 Roundup
This was the most successful May Bumps (probably ever) for Lucy. With none of our crews ever getting bumped and M1 and W1 getting BLADES! W1 rowed their orange dream machine to glory, getting the lovely Lyda the blades she deserves. Bumping every day to the sounds of Miriam’s conservative whistles and Chris’ variable numbers of draws. W2 did an amazing job, with most of them having never rowed before this year, they made us all so so proud and were unfortunately robbed of their blades by the boat in front of them bumping before they managed to bump them. M1 exceeded all our hopes and dreams for Lucy’s first ever men’s squad. With just two of them having rowed before this year, and one of them having rowed Cambridge bumps, they bumped every day making Lucy history! Special thanks to everyone (in and outside of the boats) who made this possible. Thank you to our captains and adoptive parents Miriam, Janka, and Cat for looking after us all. To our amazing president Hattie Wills who puts so much love into the boat club and makes sure everything runs smoothly. To our fantastic bank parties (who may not know how to count) but brought the good vibes we needed: Clara, Paula, Bridget, and Ethan. To our fantastic coxes who take some bold corners and get us home safe and sound: Emily Moon, Chris, and Cat.

Radegund Mile Great day of racing for our W1 in the Radegund Mile! Finishing 2nd in their division!! Robbed of a stunning hip flask by a mere 3 seconds!! Lucy x Bennet's Regatta Armed with 2 cars, a minivan and excessive amount of stash, LCCBC went to Oxford to participate in the first ever Lucy x Bennet's Regatta. Thank you so much to St Benets Hall Boat Club for having us and to Chris Launchbury organising this wonderful event! Champs Eight Head & Spring Regatta
M1 raced in 99s Spring Regatta! They kept their cool and secured a win and then only barely lost to Emma M3 after keeping on them the whole time! Quite impressive considering they've all learnt to row at Lucy this year! W2 raced in Champs Eight Head, putting down some serious power and showing off their lovely balance, they placed 3rd in their division!! In the run up to LucyGives between 1st April and 1st May 2022, Lucy Cavendish College was aiming to traverse 1965 km together.

Lent Bumps 2022 has been the wildest ride for LCCBC having had THREE team racing. We had some super busy bees who rowed and coxed across two teams with divisions overlapping. We couldn't have done this campaign without everyone's ultimate dedication and help from subs and team members behind the scenes. We are so so so proud and grateful to everyone who was there rowing, coxing, coaching, bank partying, cheering and supporting!! Here are some great moments from Michaelmas 2021! Yeah Lucy! This weekend, we'll be cheering on our novices who will be tackling Quergs in an exciting return following its cancellation last year. Good luck to everyone participating - Yeah Lucy! |
