About us
Rowing is an intrinsic part of university life at Cambridge, and Lucy Cavendish is no exception.

Every year we train up novices, seniors and coxes, both on and off the water. From week 3 we enter novices into college races, and seniors have their pick of town events.

As a smaller college with a high proportion of post-graduates, we have a high turnover of rowers each year and pride ourselves on the effort we invest in the first few crucial weeks of training.

It's definitely not all icy mornings and exhausting ergs - we also organise pub meets, Lucy socials, and swaps with other colleges, where we can all share the joys and frustrations of rowing, and host an annual Boat Club Dinner for both current rowers and alumni.

We are very grateful to our generous benefactors who have made out successes possible: Dame Veronica Sutherland, former Lucy Cavendish President, and Dr Lindsay Train, former Vice-president. Their donations of both Lucky Lucy (our novice boat, formerly Lady Charlotte) and Speedwell (our senior boat), along with Lucky Lyda (our first boat from a very generous anonymous donor) make up the Lucy 'fleet' and we are proud to have such dedicated supporters.
